Project Description

This project was a theoretical redesign of Dexter Plaza on Cal Poly San Luis Obispo campus. The site was a poorly shaded and underused area in the heart of campus, and so I took up the challenge of revamping the design and giving users a reason to visit the site. My site features plentiful shade, using pergola shade structures and carefully placed trees throughout the site. Multi-sized seating options were created to serve the different site users, and interactive exhibits from the students of Cal Poly were installed on site. The lawn was expanded and new pavers added to show site flow, with more materials used throughout the area to increase aesthetic appeal. Overall, the space was programmed better to fit the users, creating more shade, seating, and opportunities.
