Project Description

This project was completed for an Urban Design course during my study abroad trip to Copenhagen, Denmark. We were tasked with creating a temporary public installation for Vesterbrogade, one of the busiest streets in the central Copenhagen area. This was meant to both connect to and reflect an existing temporary installation on the South side of the street that was designed by the municipality of Copenhagen. To do this, we worked closely with the municipality of Copenhagen, as well as the local architecture firm Gehl, in order to collect data from the site as well as conduct a thorough inventory and analysis. Our designs were carefully revised to respond to the needs of the diverse user groups of the street, while remaining entirely temporary, meaning none of the existing elements could be removed or permanently altered. This created a unique design challenge that I was excited to take on, and it helped me to create a place that feels purposeful and engaging.
